VELOCITY URGENT CARE IS CONDUCTING COVID-19 TESTING AND URGES COMMUNITY TO SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION FOR NON-COVID-19 RELATED ILLNESS/INJURIES
WILLIAMSBURG, Va., April 6, 2020 – Velocity Urgent Care is conducting coronavirus (COVID-19) testing at all of its 14 locations across Eastern and Northern Virginia. If a patient is experiencing COVID-19 symptoms or has potentially been exposed to someone who has tested positive, they must call the center (https://velocityuc.com/locations) first to make arrangements, which may include a curbside evaluation.
They have also designated their Virginia Beach Red Mill and Newport News J Clyde Morris (beginning 4/8/20) locations for drive-up COVID-19 testing and are currently the only provider in Hampton Roads offering this service. Daily drive-up testing hours are Monday-Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Testing requires a medical evaluation and all major insurance plans are accepted.
All locations are still open for non-COVID-19-related illnesses and injuries. Each location offers no-appointment-necessary visits with licensed providers for the treatment of minor illnesses and injuries.
“Across the country, we’ve seen a rapid decline in emergency room and urgent care visits. Statistically, people should still be experiencing urgent care illnesses and injuries, but they just aren’t coming in to visit. We believe people are simply foregoing care due to uncertainty and fear,” states Alan Ayers, CEO of Velocity Urgent Care. “What’s a minor condition today can lead to something far more serious and costlier to treat if ignored. Our centers remain open with the goal of ensuring a safe, clean facility experience. You can be confident in the care you or your family will receive.”
All locations utilize stringent sanitation and infection control procedures while also following CDC Infection Control guidelines in their cleaning regimens.
Services include digital X-rays and lab capabilities on-site. Most insurance is accepted, and there is a self-pay option for those without insurance. In addition, Velocity’s partnership with Sentara Healthcare enables referrals and data-sharing with more than 3,900 Sentara specialists and primary care providers.
Velocity Urgent Care operates 14 locations across Eastern and Northern Virginia including facilities in Carrolton, Gloucester, Newport News, Norfolk (2), South Boston, Suffolk (2), Virginia Beach (4), Woodbridge, and Williamsburg. Facilities are open seven days a week. Patients can walk in or register online at https://velocityuc.com
