EXPANDED HOURS AND FREE COVID-19 CARE AND TESTING TO UNINSURED PATIENTS

Velocity Urgent Care is now offering free COVID-19 testing to uninsured patients under the federal CARES Act (www.hrsa.gov/coviduninsuredclaim). The Hampton Roads-based urgent care provider has been on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic since the virus hit Virginia. Velocity clinicians have performed more COVID-19 and antibody tests than any other provider in its Hampton Roads, Northern, and Southern Virginia communities and are committed to serving the community with free access to COVID-19 care for all.

Free COVID-19 testing for uninsured patients who are not currently enrolled in private insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, Tricare, or VA Benefits. Uninsured patients are asked to sign an affidavit of eligibility. Velocity Urgent Care welcomes patients to walk in or save time by checking in and registering online at www.velocityuc.com.

For patients with insurance, the government has instructed private insurance companies, Medicare, Medicaid, Tricare, and the Veterans Administration to fully cover the cost of COVID-19 medical evaluations and lab tests. There is no co-pay or deductible collected for COVID-19 services at Velocity Urgent Care.

Additionally, Velocity Urgent Care has expanded its hours to offer more convenient access to patients needing immediate care for non-emergent illnesses and injuries.

“Velocity Urgent Care was Virginia’s first urgent care operator to offer hassle-free COVID-19 and antibody testing at all operating locations including the addition of drive-up locations. So far, we’ve conducted more COVID-19 tests than any other urgent care in Hampton Roads and Northern Virginia and we look forward to extending these services free of charge to the uninsured,” said Velocity CEO Alan Ayers.

All Velocity Urgent Care locations offer no-appointment-necessary visits with licensed providers for the treatment of minor illnesses and injuries. Velocity Urgent Care utilizes stringent sanitation and infection control procedures while also following CDC Infection Control guidelines in their cleaning regimens. Patients who register online will receive text message updates as it approaches their visit time enabling them to wait in their vehicles if they choose.

Services include digital X-rays and lab capabilities on-site. Most insurance is accepted, and there is a self-pay option for those without insurance. In addition, Velocity’s partnership with Sentara Healthcare enables referrals and data-sharing with more than 3,900 Sentara specialists and primary care providers. Velocity Urgent Care also supports area employers with Worker's Compensation injury care; fit-for-duty, new hire, and compliance physicals; as well as drug screening conducted at Velocity or at the employer’s place of business.

Velocity Urgent Care has 13 operating locations statewide including Virginia Beach (4), Norfolk (2), Suffolk (2), South Boston, Newport News, Williamsburg, Woodbridge, and Gloucester.

About Velocity Urgent Care: Based in Williamsburg, Velocity Urgent Care is the fastest-growing urgent care provider in Virginia.
