Velocity Urgent Care Has Expanded COVID-19 Rapid Testing

VELOCITY URGENT CARE HAS EXPANDED COVID-19 RAPID TESTING

WILLIAMSBURG, Va., September 23, 2020 – Patients at Velocity Urgent Care can now receive COVID-19 antigen test results in 15 minutes without showing signs of symptoms. All Velocity locations have the BD Veritor and Quidel Sofia 2 instant analyzers, which are capable of running COVID-19 antigen tests faster than the average test. All rapid testing is performed on patients with a simple nasal swab.

“Both the BD Veritor and Quidel Sofia 2 instant analyzers have received FDA Emergency Use Authorization,” Velocity CEO Alan Ayers stated. “This innovative testing has allowed our patients to receive results faster and detect if a patient has a current infection without experiencing symptoms. We’re proud to expand our COVID-19 antigen testing to patients at all of our Velocity Urgent Care centers.”

Velocity launched the expanded COVID-19 rapid testing on Wednesday, August 12th and now has the capability to test all patients without any limitations such as a patient experiencing symptoms, prolonged exposure to a person with the virus, pre-surgical clearance or employment testing requirements.

Patients seeking COVID-19 testing can register online at www.velocityuc.com. By registering online, patients have the opportunity for a contactless, paperless registration and will receive text updates when they’re ready to be seen. All Velocity Urgent Care locations offer no appointment-necessary visits with licensed providers for treatment of minor illnesses and injuries.

Services include digital X-rays and lab capabilities on-site. Most insurance is accepted, and there is a self-pay option for those without insurance. In addition, Velocity’s partnership with Sentara Healthcare enables referrals and data-sharing with more than 3,900 Sentara specialists and primary care providers. Velocity Urgent Care also supports area employers with Workers Compensation injury care; fit-for-duty, new hire and compliance physicals; as well as drug screening conducted at Velocity or at the employer’s place of business.
