VELOCITY URGENT CARE NOW HAS COVID-19 ANTIBODY TESTING

WILLIAMSBURG, Va., April 29, 2020 – Velocity Urgent Care is conducting hassle-free and on demand coronavirus (COVID-19) testing at all of its 14 locations across Eastern and Northern Virginia. In addition to testing for current COVID-19 symptoms, they are now they are offering an antibody test to detect if a patient had a previous COVID-19 infection. The process includes a medical examination of each patient’s symptoms, which may also include testing for influenza and other conditions if deemed necessary by the provider.

“Our COVID-19 tests are run on state-of-the-art equipment in a nationally accredited laboratory with results back to our patients within 1-3 days. There is no advance telemedicine consult, pre-screening or doctor’s referral required,” states Alan Ayers, CEO of Velocity Urgent Care. “We strive to make this process easy for our patients and keep them informed every step of the way.”

If a patient is experiencing COVID-19 symptoms or has potentially been exposed to someone who has tested positive, they must call the center (https://velocityuc.com/locations) first to make arrangements, which may include a curbside evaluation.

They have also designated their Virginia Beach Red Mill, Newport News J Clyde Morris and Port Potomac locations for drive-up COVID-19 testing. Daily drive-up testing hours vary by location. Velocity COVID-19 testing includes a medical evaluation and accepts all major insurance plans, Medicare, Medicaid, Tricare and VA Benefits with no co-pay or deductible collected. The government has instructed insurance companies to waive all patient financial responsibility for COVID-19 testing and treatment.

All Velocity Urgent Care locations are still open for non-COVID-19 related illnesses and injuries. Each location offers no-appointment-necessary visits with licensed providers for treatment of minor illnesses and injuries. Services include digital X-rays and lab capabilities on-site. Most insurance is accepted, and there is a self-pay option for those without insurance. In addition, Velocity’s partnership with Sentara Healthcare enables referrals and data-sharing with more than 3,900 Sentara specialists and primary care providers.
