VELOCITY URGENT CARE IS HELPING EMPLOYERS RE-OPEN RESPONSIBLY

WILLIAMSBURG, Va., May 7, 2020 – Velocity Urgent Care is working with Hampton Roads-area employers to develop and execute plans to return employees to work sooner and safer from the COVID-19 pandemic. Solutions include testing for the COVID-19 virus or antibodies at any of Velocity Urgent Care’s 14 locations which can be directly billed to the employer. They are also offering on-site testing and evaluation for businesses with 20 employees or more.

Symptomatic patients can follow-up at their nearest Velocity Urgent Care for a complete examination, testing, counseling and treatment recommendations by a board-certified medical provider. If an employee tests positive for COVID-19, Velocity Urgent Care can help evaluate and monitor them until it’s appropriate for them to return to work in accordance with CDC guidelines.

“As Virginia starts to ease shelter-in-place directives, Velocity Urgent Care is committed to helping employers bring back their workforce safely and economically,” stated Alan Ayers, CEO of Velocity Urgent Care.

All laboratory tests are conducted at a nationally-accredited laboratory that has received an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) from the FDA. Velocity Urgent Care is able to provide results to employers within 2-3 days of testing.

Patients who reserve a spot online at any Hampton Roads Velocity Urgent Care location can receive text message updates as it approaches the time to be seen. This enables patients to wait safely and separated at home and in their cars, if they choose. Velocity COVID-19 testing includes a medical evaluation and accepts all major insurance plans, Medicare, Medicaid, Tricare and VA Benefits with no co-pay or deductible collected. The government has instructed insurance companies to waive all patient financial responsibility for COVID-19 testing and treatment.

“Velocity Urgent Care was Virginia’s first urgent care operator to offer hassle-free COVID-19 and antibody testing at all operating locations including three drive-up locations. So far, we’ve conducted more COVID-19 tests than any other urgent care in Virginia and we look forward to extending these services to local employers,” said Ayers.

All Velocity Urgent Care locations are still open for non-COVID-19 related illnesses and injuries. Each location offers no-appointment-necessary visits with licensed providers for treatment of minor illnesses and injuries. Velocity Urgent Care utilizes stringent sanitation and infection control procedures while also following CDC Infection Control guidelines in their cleaning regimens.

Services include digital X-rays and lab capabilities on-site. Most insurance is accepted, and there is a self-pay option for those without insurance. In addition, Velocity’s partnership with Sentara Healthcare enables referrals and data-sharing with more than 3,900 Sentara specialists and primary care providers. Velocity Urgent Care also supports area employers with Workers Compensation injury care; fit-for-duty, new hire and compliance physicals; as well as drug screening conducted at Velocity or at the employer’s place of business.
